As a mom, it’s our job to make sure that the kids are always dressed and looking presentable that we often forget to do the same for ourselves. I used to find myself throwing outfits together for myself last minute, hair in a bun, and no makeup, and rushing out the door. I started to look for ways to make myself feel and look better when I went out, ways that took minimal time so I didn’t have an excuse. It’s ok to want to look and feel sexy, we owe it to ourselves! Here is a great article on How To Feel Sexy After Having Kids, but when you are just looking for some quick beauty regimens, here are our favorites.
“Put On Some Lipstick and Live a Little“
I never used to be a lipstick person. By the time I put it on, it was already wearing off and I hated the way my lips felt. I didn’t think I could pull it off until I started actually trying different brands out and finding ones I loved. I am not much of a makeup girl, minimal is best for me and that’s why I love adding lipstick. You can put it on in the car, throw on some mascara and you look ready to go in minutes.
One of my favorite brands I use for lipstick is BeautyCounter, they have a variety of gorgeous shades to choose from. What I love about these lipsticks are that they last-long, they are also lightweight yet ultra-moisturizing for the perfect mix of sheer color and polished sheen. Every shade is color-tested to ensure that each hue complements all skin tones. Plus, there’s no synthetic fragrance—just a sophisticated hint of vanilla planifolia.
“Maybe She’s Born With It. Maybe It’s Dry Shampoo“
Doing my hair is the one thing that takes me the longest to do. While I am a fan of the “mom bun,” I don’t want to always rock that look. If you do not have time to wash your hair, try some dry shampoo. It instantly gets rid of the greasy roots, adds volume and some are scented so good, it’ll look and smell like you just walked out of the salon.
Not all dry shampoo’s are created equally and it’s honestly a matter of your hair type. I’m personally a fan of the powder, but they also come in spray form. If you have time to head to an Ulta or Sephora, I would recommend asking an employee there to help you, or just grab one from Target and try it out. There are a ton for under $10.
“May Your Nails Be Merry And Bright“
Who has time to deal with nail polish drying or chipping? I don’t. Sally Hansen makes these AWESOME nail stickers. They are quick, easy, and have your nails looking like you just got back from the nail salon.
“Eyebrows Speak Louder Than Words“
You don’t need to spend time or money going to get your eyebrows done, but eyebrows are pretty important part of your face. Nowadays there really isn’t any excuse to have decent looking eyebrows. I try grooming them when I can, and every day I apply a little eyebrow color to shape them and make them look great. For easier use, you can get them in pencil form, or if you prefer, get it in a palette and use an eyebrow brush.
“Keep Calm And Use Tinted Moisturizer“
Ditch the idea of foundation. We should all be using a moisturizer for our faces anyways, even if you have oily skin. With a tinted moisturizer, you literally put it on in the morning and it helps your skin to glow and hides some of your facial imperfections.
BeautyCounter has a great tinted moisturizer that leaves skin with a luminous glow. Dew Skin Moisturizing Coverage SPF 20 provides lightweight, sheer hydration that evens skin tone while protecting the skin from sun damage. Black currant, peony flower root extract, and vitamin C reduce the appearance of age spots and enhance skin brightness, while sodium hyaluronate promotes firmer, smoother-looking skin.
