HABA, a toy company devoted to producing high quality, eco-friendly, toys, is one of my favorite toy companies for my son! He has several of their products, including the Fire Brigade, On the Farm, and Three Little Pigs sets. Their top of the line crafting of wooden and cloth toys makes the products timeless. That’s why I’m so excited to share the new Pegging Game from HABA!
Here little brains and nimble fingers are put into action: the template cards show pegging variations of three degrees of difficulty. The solution is given on the backside of the cards. Of course it’s also a lot of fun to peg together the funny heads and handy building blocks however one wants.
Christopher was immediately excited to pick out a card and try to make a model of what was on it. The pieces are the perfect size for his little hands–big enough for him to manipulate, but not clunky and awkward. He laughs about the funny heads, sometimes making his own creations with them.
The first couple of times Christopher tried the Pegging Game, he was asking for help. We only did the one star level, which is the easiest one. Now Christopher is an old pro and beginning to be able to do the two star ones independently! He gets the game out on his own, builds the pegging variations and runs to show me. His favorite thing to do currently is to build the figure and have me take pictures of the creations.
Here are a couple that he has completed:
- With three levels of play and open ended play as well, this isn’t a game that children will outgrow. It will last for years!
- Building and modeling is important for brain and motor skill development. Your child has to think critically and manipulate objects, but great developmental skills.
- The items are wooden–need I say more? They don’t blink, beep or run out of batteries. The Pegging Game will last for child after child.
- HABA is a company you can trust. Read more about them on their About HABA page on their website.
