Are your kids huge SKYLANDER fans? My children are and words can not begin to express how excited they were when they heard this year SKYLANDERS will make an appearance in Macy’s annual Thanksgiving Day parade!

Fan-favorite character Eruptor, who will be flying high above the New York City skyline, hails from deep in the underground of a floating volcanic island that launched his entire civilization to the surface after a massive eruption.  He’s a complete hot head – steaming, fuming, and quite literally erupting over almost anything.

Skylanders is an annual staple for publisher Activision; the fourth iteration — Skylanders Trap Team — was released late September for virtually every gaming platform, from next-gen and previous-gen consoles, 3DS handhelds and mobile. A full working version is compatible with newer iOS, Amazon and Android tablets.

The franchise, which has more than 200 different compatible toys, raked in $2 billion for Activision as of February 2014. It’s not a surprise the success warranted inclusion in the iconic parade.

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has only featured two video game characters in the past: Sonic the Hedgehog, and Pokémon Pikachu. Yes, not even Mario has graced the gray November skies of New York. Sonic appeared first in 1993, then in 2009 and 2013. Pikachu first appeared in 2001, and fan-favorite Pokémon is receiving a float refresh this year.

The parade is airing at 9 a.m. ET on Thanksgiving on NBC.
