I’m hosting Thanksgiving for the first time this year. There won’t be too many of us – just my husband and I, our daughters, and my parents – but I’m so excited! I was trying to come up with an idea for table decorations, when I remembered we have a bag of pine cones that my girls like to collect. So we decided to make them into pine cone turkeys to put at each place setting! It was easy enough that the kids could help (but leave the hot glue to the grown ups), and I think they turned out super cute!
Here’s what you need:
-Popsicle sticks (for the smaller turkeys, I cut them in half)
-Orange foam or construction paper
Once you have your materials gathered, start by gluing the feathers to the sticks. This is a great chance to get your kid(s) involved!
Once the tail feathers are ready, everything else is just assembly! Cut out beaks of your orange foam or construction paper, and glue those and the eyes to whatever you deem to be the front of the pine cone. Some of my pine cones didn’t have two spots close together to glue on the eyes, so I glued them to a piece of foam first. For the tails, I glued five sticks together first, and then attached it as one piece. And that’s it! Super easy and super cute!
