To be honest, I never thought I would be a cat person. Growing up we always had a dog as a pet. All of my friends who had cats had outdoor cats that were never friendly. It wasn’t until I started dating my husband that I got to experience, first hand, how amazing cats can be as a pet. My husband had gotten his two cats, Tim and Brody, a couple years before we got together. While I may not have been there right from the beginning, I still consider them “my” first cats. Both are so unique and unlike any cats I have ever met. Our boy cat, Tim, thinks he’s a dog. He will run around the house chasing toys and playing with the kids. Our girl cat, Brody, has to be the most lovable, laziest cat I have ever known. Seriously, both my boys can crawl on her, tug at her ears and she will just lay there and purr away. Another unique feature about Brody is her paws. You see, Brody is a Polydactyl cat- she has thumbs.

Both cats are amazing pets and I consider them a part of our family. I don’t know what I, my husband or my children would do without them.

The Real Stories Project is an app that collects the real stories of cat people everywhere. Cats are special to each of us – this is our way of celebrating how much of a role they play in our lives, all the memories we have had together, and the fact that they are always there for us, no matter what.
