Last week, I had the pleasure of attending the PBS Annual Meeting in Austin TX to sit in on the General Sessions and to listen along with the other PBSKids VIP Bloggers as we were introduced to some of the new programming coming your way over the next year! PBSKids has quite the line up of shows as it is, and now they are premiering two brand new series in the Fall/Winter!

On Tuesday morning, our breakfast had a fun nature theme as PBS KIDS announced the premiere date and voice talent line-up for Nature Cat, a new animated series for kids ages 3-8.

Nature Cat Breakfast

Nature Cat follows Fred, a house cat who dreams of exploring the great outdoors. In each episode, once his family leaves for the day, Fred transforms into “Nature Cat, backyard explorer extraordinaire.” Nature Cat can’t wait to get outside for a day of backyard nature excursions and bravery, but there’s one problem: He’s still a house cat with no instincts for nature. With the help of his animal friends, Nature Cat embarks on action-packed adventures full of nature investigation, “aha” discovery moments and humor, all while inspiring children to go outside and “play the show.”

Nature Cat will entertain your children while encouraging an interest in exploring nature. It will inspire children to go on learning adventures of their own, and help them discover educational fun in their own backyard or local park.
Created by brothers David Rudman (“Cookie Monster” and “Baby Bear” on Sesame Street; “Scooter” and “Janice” on The Muppets) and Adam Rudman (Tom & Jerry, Sesame Street, CyberChase), Nature Cat brings back the nostalgia of the classic Saturday Morning Looney Tunes cartoons. It has slapstick comedy, silly voices and a “whimsical” animation style unlike many of the newer animated series out now.

The live action interstitials (short segments in between each 11 minute episode) will feature “Adventure Girl”, who just happens to be Nature Cat’s hero and inspiration to get outside and explore! Love how the two will not just be about a similar subject, but will completely be intertwined!

Nature Cat’s vocal talent will entertain the parents (at least THIS parent is over the moon excited!) thanks to the likes of Saturday Night Live stars Taran Killam, Kate McKinnon, Bobby Moynihan, Kenan Thompson and Chris Parnell; as well as Kate Micucci (Scrubs, The Big Bang Theory) and many all star guest appearances! This is huge talent coming to PBS and we are so excited to see it in the regular line up.

Nature Cat will premiere on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 on PBS KIDS (check local listings).
