Are you looking for a fun way to stay in shape and keep you looking forward to your daily workouts? It’s time to try Zumba! I can’t say enough great things about this exercise—it’s truly the first workout that I haven’t started to dread after about a week and I always keep coming back for more. It is a fun exercise you can do with your friends or kids, and you will be feeling great and in shape in no time!
I have a local gym that offers Zumba classes that I enjoy, but I also have found a couple of on-demand videos that I can exercise to at home. I always found it hard to exercise with a toddler, but my toddler LOVES to dance and I think he actually looks forward to dancing with me! He doesn’t even realize that mommy is exercising; he thinks we are just having one big dance party!
5 Reasons to Try Zumba:
Tons of calories burned: According to a study on Huffington Post, the average number of calories burned was 817 in an hour! That’s more than I would burn running for an hour!
Gain killer abs, buns and legs: You will constantly be shaking those hips and squatting in different dance positions, which is great for your abs and lower body.
You will be put in a good mood: Your mood and a positive outlook is so important when it comes to health. Every time I attend a class, everyone is laughing, clapping and smiling. It is really hard NOT to have a good time in a Zumba class and it will put you in a great frame of mind for the rest of the day.
The time will fly by: How many of you watch the clock when you are on the treadmill? I always did and I felt like my workouts were a chore. With Zumba, the hour will fly by and you will be surprised at how much fun you had!
You can do it with your kids: Kids love music, and they love to dance! It is a great way to teach your kids to be active and healthy, all while having fun. Zumba even offers a kid-friendly program called Zumbatonic, and many health clubs offer these classes to kids ranging from ages four to 12 years.
Check out your local health club for Zumba classes, or if you prefer to workout at home, most cable companies offer Zumba On-Demand for free. While I have not personally tried this Zumba program, the Zumba Fitness Total Body Transformation System DVD Set gets lots of great reviews on Amazon, so it might be worth checking out as well. Here is a short intro to the DVD set:
*I was not compensated in any way for this post. I personally love Zumba and exercise to it all the time! You should always consult a doctor before starting any fitness program.
