Ever wake up exhausted after a sleepless night with your newborn and wonder when was the last time I fed or changed my baby? I cannot tell you how many nights my husband and I have had like this—the previous night is a complete fog and we have no idea how long it’s been since we have last fed or changed our little one. When you are sleep deprived, it is very easy to forget all those details and you find yourself wondering how long has it been exactly since my son ate last?

The nurses in the hospital recommended we keep a log of when we fed our baby so we could be sure to feed him every three hours. I found keeping a log was very tedious; I was always moving it around the house and would constantly lose it.  It was also impossible to keep up with at night—every second of sleep you can get at night is precious, so why would I want to take the time to find a pen and write in my baby log? Needless to say, the written log didn’t work out so well for us, especially at night.

I was so excited when I found the Itzbeen Baby Care Timer

The ITZBEEN Baby Care Timer was invented by a set of new parents that were having a hard time remembering all of their baby care details—they tried logs and diaries, but weren’t happy with those methods. So, they developed the ITZBEEN Baby Care Timer, a multi-purpose baby care tool that tracks the details of their baby’s care. Not only does the ITZBEEN Baby Care Timer track the last time your baby slept, ate and was changed, it also provides a wonderful tool for breastfeeding moms to track which breast they nursed with last. The tool is a small lever that you can move to the right or left based on which breast you nursed with—what a genius idea!

Other wonderful features this little device boasts include:

  • A soft glow nightlight that helps you find your way in the dark—this was extremely helpful since we always tried to keep the lights dimmed at night so our son would know the difference between night and day.
  • A clip on the back of the timer so you can clip it on your clothes or diaper bag.  It will always stay with you and you won’t have to worry about losing it!
  • A display backlight to help you read times in the dark.
  • Optional timer alarms that allow you to set a reminder for each timer.  For example, you can have the alarm go off when it has been 3 hours and it is time to feed your baby again.

The ITZBEEN Baby Care Time comes in pink, blue and green. It is very easy to use; I didn’t even have to read the instructions and was able to use it right out of the package. I love that it is small and compact—product dimensions are 9.1×6.2×2.1 inches and weighs in at 4.8 ounces, which is nice when you are juggling so many other newborn essentials around.

The ITZBEEN Baby Care Timer was recipient of the 2007 iParenting Media Award, a 2007 JPMA Innovation Award and won the 2007 Iparenting Media Award for Best Baby Product. I absolutely love this product and am constantly telling my expecting friends to register for this.  As a new mom, it will help keep you organized so you don’t have to do it for yourself—you will already have enough on your plate!

You can find ITZBEEN Baby Care Timers at and they are sold at most baby stores including Babies “R” Us, BuyBuyBaby and Target.  Also, be sure to like them on Facebook or follow them on Twitter to find out more about their company and their fabulous product.
