Once the weather warms up, the barbecue seems to stay in constant use. Nothing like some yummy grilled food to start the evening with. Earlier this week I was craving barbecue chicken. Only problem? We had no barbecue sauce in the house. How does that happen this time of the year? Usually we are stocked. Since it was too late to head to the store (and quite frankly, I was to lazy), I decided to try my hand at some homemade barbecue sauce.
After researching recipe after recipe I quickly realized that they all had the same main ingredients with a few tweaks here and there. Ingredients that I already had in my pantry which made me excited and relieved.
The sauce is a little on the ketchup-y side but it is delicious nonetheless. It went perfect on the chicken!
- 1½ cups Dark Brown Sugar, packed
- 1¼ cups Ketchup
- ½ cup Red Wine Vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
- 3 teaspoons Ground Mustard
- 2 teaspoons Paprika
- 1½ teaspoons Salt
- 1½ teaspoon Pepper
- Measure and add all ingredients into a bowl and whisk until all ingredients are blended and dissolved. If you would like your sauce not as thick, add ½ cup water to your sauce and whisk in.
