We just love Christmas books in our house. This time of the year really makes reading so much more fun!Hot cocoa by the fire and nuzzled in the most comfy blankets enjoying our favorite holiday stories is how we like to spend our evenings. Every year my children get a handful of books for Christmas. I take full advantage of the holiday season sales by stocking up on great deals you can find. We have managed to build our collection with some awesome stories that all children will love.
Olivia Helps with Christmas– Olivia is a favorite in our home. The books are always so funny. My daughter’s name is Olivia and she really enjoys pretending the stories are about her. This story is filled with anticipation and excitement as every young child is filled with as Christmas gets closer. Falconer’s drawings are amazing as always and this little book really captures the energy and imagination that runs in every child.
Bear Stays Up for Christmas– Bear Snores On is a huge a huge hit in our house. An adorable book about a bear that always struggles to stay awake as bears do in the winter. Bear stays up for Christmas is just the opposite; Bear wants to stay awake to celebrate Christmas with his friends. The children will love how all the animals in the story do something special for bear during Christmas.
Dear Santasaurus– Such an imaginative story with the cutest illustrations to follow. The story follows Ernest B. Spinosaurus and his little sister Amber as they send letters to Santasaurus. Ernest tells Santasaurus exactly what he wants for Christmas and how he has been a good dino this year. The kids will chuckle at all the silliness this story has from beginning to end.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas!– A Seuss Classic of course, and just like every other Dr. Seuss book, it is nothing short of amazing. While silly and funny this book still carries a very important message to children about greed and materialism. Our favorite is when the Grinch’s heart grows and grows, its not sobbing, but singing! The movie follows the book very well and is another one of our holiday favorites.
The Polar Express– It is just impossible to go through Christmas time without reading The Polar Express. A fantastic children’s book of a little boy waiting for Santa on Christmas eve, only to be taken by him on a trip with other children to the North Pole. The illustrations are breathtaking and story line that follows is beyond magical. We keep this book with our Christmas decorations and take it out every year during the holidays. It is a book I hope my children will eventually pass on to theirs as they get older.
