Breakfast is probably our family’s favorite meal to eat. The kids are fully awake, happy, and ready to get some fuel for the long day ahead. My husband and I take finding good restaurants in areas we are visiting very seriously, especially when it comes to breakfast. Breakfast is the first meal you eat for the day and eating a good, solid breakfast can really set the tone for the day. During our stay in Bellevue, Washington we didn’t have to look very far to find a superb place to eat breakfast. Connected to the Hyatt Regency Bellevue you’ll find an a la cart breakfast restaurant called Eques.

Now you may be thinking what I used to think about hotel breakfast restaurants, they are just mediocre at best. Usually the food is decent but nothing really has you leaving saying “Now that was an incredible breakfast.” However, my experience at Eques completely changed the way I viewed hotel breakfast restaurants because it was THAT good!

When eating at restaurants I often choose a menu item instead of a buffet but when we walked inside Eques there was no doubt in my mind that I would be doing the buffet. There were so many options and the food quality looked fresh and delicious. Eques had everything from a cereal bar, pastries, omelets, pancakes, potatoes, meats, oatmeal bar, and more.

They even had a lot of fresh, ripe fruit, local cheeses, heirloom tomatoes, salmon rolls and cottage cheese with a fruit compote. Seriously, how could I not get the buffet when this all greeted me when I walked in.

This was probably one of the best buffet meals I have ever experienced. Both my husband and I went back for seconds (OK, maybe thirds), but do you blame us? Look at this food! I love that they offered varieties of meats as I don’t eat pork, so I was extremely pleased to see chicken sausages available.

During our visit to Eques we learned a lot about the foods they offer guests. Every day they offer regular house pancakes (which are yummy) and a special. For instance when we visited the pancakes of the day were an incredible banana blend. Each day they also add something new to the buffet, for our trip it was short rib polenta.

Of course it wouldn’t be right to eat at Eques without trying some of the specialty items they serve for breakfast. These are not part of the buffet, but are regular items on the menu.

The first concoction we tried was their Banana Split Pancakes. These sweet and delicious pancakes are topped with marscapone cream, strawberries, bananas, roasted peanuts, chocolate shavings, and of course a cherry on top. The texture was perfect and these were insanely delicious.

The second specialty item was my favorite — Blueberry Graham Cracker French Toast. Oh my gosh, there are seriously no words that can describe how incredibly amazing these were. Macrina Brioche, mascarpone, blueberry compote, vanilla bean cream, almonds, and misty mountain lavender honey. I am craving these as I type this up wondering if it is possible to overnight one to me.

The food is priced extremely well for the quality and quantity of food you get. The American Buffet is $19.50 per person, The Banana Split Pancakes are $12.50, and the Blueberry Graham Cracker French Toast is $13.50. If you are visiting Bellevue or the surrounding areas, I highly recommend making plans to eat breakfast here one morning. You won’t be disappointed. You can even enjoy a nice, cold Mimosa or Bloody Mary for only $3.00!

Eques is located inside the Bellevue Place that connects to the Hyatt Regency Bellevue. Visit their website to find out hours and a complete menu here.
