Last week, Disneyland kicked off their dazzling 60th Anniversary Diamond Celebration and we were invited! With two special media premiere nights prior to the 24 hour celebration kick off party; Disneyland rolled out the royal blue carpet for us and boy was is it MAGICAL!
From the moment we pulled into the Grand Californian Hotel we were greeted with gorgeous Diamond Celebration decor.
The Walt Disney Imagineers and Disneyland Art directors went above and beyond to set the Diamond Celebration mood all throughout the Disneyland Resort. Both parks are decorated beautifully with crisp blue banners and of course, DIAMONDS! Lots of DIAMONDS! (Disney magic diamonds, not real ones)
We spent our first day in Disney’s California Adventure Park checking out all of the new Diamond Celebration decor and the new Grizzly Peak Airfield; home to the famous Soarin’ Over California attraction.
Gorgeous blue banners line the shops and lamp posts along Buena Vista Street. With hidden diamonds along the way. They were like finding hidden Mickey’s but sparklier!
I’m in love the Diamond Celebration decor on the Carthay Circle Theater. It’s absolutely stunning! With dazzling blue banners draping the tower and of course the Diamond Celebration emblem on the front, it’s nothing short of spectacular. I love that they brought the Diamond Celebration to both parks for guests to enjoy.
The newly reimagined Grizzly Peak Airfield looks amazing. It feels like you’re really in a national park and brings out the beauty that is the California Sierras. Soarin’ Over California also got an external makeover with the new Mt. Muir look out tower. The ride itself has some new updates to its screen and projection system as well giving guests a visually enhanced experience.
Now the fun doesn’t stop once the sun goes down in Disney’s California Adventure. We headed into the Hollywood back lot where everyones favorite party was underway, the Diamond Mad T Party!
We’re thrilled to have the White Rabbit DJ and the whole gang back in DCA again. The party is even more colorful and bright then we remembered. Also, the Hottest Deck in Town dance crew will perform their high-energy show with a new look at a new location, the Hollywood Backlot Stage. Be sure to check out the new interactive games and photo locations at the new Diamond Mad T Party.
We finished our evening in DCA with a very special premiere of the new “World of Color-Celebrate!”. Hosted by Neil Patrick Harris and Mickey Mouse, it is an exciting and fun filled journey through Walt Disney’s dream– Disneyland Park.
The full details on “World of Color-Celebrate!” and the other new nighttime spectaculars will be up on the blog soon. Stay tuned!
Our next adventure was in none other then the Happiest Place on Earth! I was so impressed by how much detail and thought went into styling and decorating Disneyland for it’s Diamond Celebration. Check out the bling on Mickey’s bow tie!
More blue banners lined the shops and lamp posts on Main Street U.S.A. Even the flowers we’re different shades of blue.
Walking down Main Street you really feel immersed in the entire experience of the Diamond Celebration. Which is exactly what Kim Irvine and Scott Trowbridge, Walt Disney Imagineers, had in mind when they set out to design, style and decorate Disneyland park for it’s Diamond Celebration. They want guests to really experience Disneyland’s Diamond Celebration, not just physically, but emotionally.
When your eyes meet Sleeping Beauty’s Castle you really know that you are a part of something special. Disneyland is not just a physical place, it’s a state of mind. It’s a place to dream, imagine and transform moments into magical memories. A place where you can feel forever young. Adorned with over 100,000 blue glass crystals, Sleeping Beauty’s Castle has never looked better in her 60 years.
The brilliant blue sashes drape the castle so perfectly. My personal favorite are all the gorgeous diamonds that sit on top of the towers. The two largest diamonds weigh more than one ton! I think it’s time for Disney to come decorate my house. Let’s not forget about the large “60” embellishment that now sits over the entrance to the castle. It’s so detailed and puts the perfect finishing touch on the castle.
The castle isn’t the only thing that got a 60th anniversary make-over. Now guests can see their most beloved Disney characters dressed in their 60th anniversaries finest.
Don’t they look dazzling! You can now meet Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Pluto and Chip and Dale, in their new Diamond Celebration costumes daily around Towne Square on Main Street. They will also have a daily Diamond-March along up Main Street with the fabulous Disneyland Band.
The magic continues into the night with Disneyland’s new night time spectaculars, ‘Paint the Night’ Electrical Parade, and ‘Disneyland Forever’ Fireworks. There is so much to share with you about these new shows that you’ll have to check out my next post all about it! Trust me, you don’t want to miss it!
