Deep cleaning my home is something I have to literally set dedicated time aside for. With 3 boys running around my house, things get dirty fast and I need to be able to keep up with it or else things start to become obviously neglected and they look the part!
One of the things that tends to take the farthest back burner is the grout in our hallways. We clean the tile because it’s simple enough to clean, but cleaning grout takes extra time and energy that I just don’t always have so the grout is one part of my home that tends to be let go for too long and then needs a serious deep cleaning. When I do finally set aside the time to really clean it, I don’t want to use chemicals that are too harsh because the floor is where my boys run barefoot, drop their food and crawl around. I need to use something much more natural but that will still clean like other cleaners.
Enter ARM & HAMMER™ Super Washing Soda! I had never heard of it before and was intrigued since I use ARM & HAMMER™ Baking Soda a ton for cleaning (and baking!). It is mainly used in cleaning laundry, but can be used as a natural household cleaner that you don’t have to worry about using in the places your little ones will have a lot of contact. It’s perfect for spaces like bathtubs, sinks, kitchens and tile/grout! I couldn’t wait to see the results of using Washing Soda on my dirty grout!
I mixed 1/2 cup of ARM & HAMMER™ Super Washing Soda in a gallon of warm water, and then took it into the hallway with a hard bristle brush. I dipped the brush in the Washing Soda solution (use gloves if you have sensitive skin) and scrubbed away! It does take some elbow grease, but my grout looks awesome!
While I’m already down there, I rub the solution over the tile with a rag to give it a good clean too! It takes a bit of time (especially in my home where it’s mostly tile!) but worth it to me to not have chemicals all over the floor where my littlest guy will be crawling!
