Washing dishes has to be one one my least favorite things to do. Maybe it’s the fact that I live with 2 boys and my husband, the dirty dishes never seem to stop. So when I was introduced to Cascade Platinum and heard I didn’t have to presoak or pre-wash any of my dirty dishes, my jaw literally dropped. No way can this work. I swear I have tried putting dirty dishes straight into the dishwasher before and they always came out with food still on them. It never cleaned them thoroughly. So I decided to host a party, invite my friends and family and test the cleaning power of Cascade Platinum.

I prepared the night before my party by baking some delicious brownies for our guests to enjoy. Not only would these be snacks for the party but I would be using the dishes used to make the brownies as my demo for the Cascade Platinum.

When my guests arrived and I told them I let my dishes sit overnight without pre-washing them they all looked at me weird wondering why I would do that.

The reason I didn’t pre-wash them is that Cascade Platinum actually works best when food soil is left on the dishes because its special enzymes latch onto that food, breaking it down so it can wash away. If there’s no food soil, there’s nothing for the enzymes to attach to and your detergent isn’t working its hardest for you. Mind blown, right?

In lieu of any pre-washing, you should toss the large bits of food into the trash or garbage disposal and then stop there. No need to run anything under the water. Just load into the dishwasher. I can’t tell you how much time this saves and water this conserves. Especially with California being in a drought, not having to pre-wash seriously helps so much! If you are worried about the food left on the dishes damaging your machine or pipes— don’t!  There is a garbage disposal built into the bottom of almost all dishwashers. That disposal works exactly like the disposal in your sink.

After putting the brownie mixing bowl onto the top rack I loaded up the detergent and rinse aid.

I love the detergent packs because it makes things so much easier. Simply pop it into the detergent section, close, and you are ready to go!

So how did the Cascade Platinum work on the dishes that sat overnight? See for yourself!

My guests were blown away and couldn’t believe the dishes came out like this. If they hadn’t seen it for themselves they wouldn’t have believed me when I said say goodbye to pre-washing! When they were ready to leave I gave them each some Cascade Platinum packs and a rinsing aid for them to try at home and put their mess to the test!
