Unsure of what to do with your old car seat? Or maybe your child outgrew theirs and it’s time to upgrade? Either way, Target has their Trade-In event happening again this year.

Target’s next car seat trade-in event is April 22-May 4, 2019!

Target will accept and recycle all types of car seats, including infant seats, convertible seats, car seat bases, harness or booster car seats and car seats that are expired or damaged. Materials from the old car seats will be recycled by Target’s partner, Waste Management. From there, they said they will use the materials to make grocery carts, plastic buckets and other construction materials. Since 2016, when the program was first created, Target has recycled more than 7.4 million pounds of material.

Guests who trade in their old car seats will receive a 20% off coupon toward a new car seat, car seat base, travel system, stroller or select baby home gear, such as playards, high chairs, swings, rockers and bouncers.

  • Car seats can only be traded in at a Target store, however, the coupons picked up from Guest Services can be applied to both in-store and online purchases.
  • The coupon is eligible through Saturday, May 11, 2019.

Employees of Target will be at the drop-off boxes near Guest Services to hand out coupons.
