Happy New Year’s Eve! Many of us have a lot of goals planned for a healthier and happier new year, myself included. Instead of setting huge goals, work on small ones that are more achievable. You are more likely to stick with them and create healthy, long term habits.

Here are 5 steps to a healthier you!

5 Steps to a Healthier You

1. Drink More Water

Water is so important and is something that most of us don’t drink enough of. I know for me, I just could never get into drinking as much water as I was supposed to. Luckily I found an incredible water bottle that has helped me in more ways that I could have imagined. The ROVE infuser Tumbler is a great way to drink naturally flavored water. All you do is cut up your favorite fruits, citruses or herbs, put them into the removable flavor pod that connects to the lid, add water, and close it up— you have your own infused water to go. I have literally had more water in the last few days than I have had probably the total of all last month.

If water isn’t your thing and you can’t quit drinking soda, try making your own faux soda. Use carbonated water instead of regular water, then cut up some oranges. You’ll have your own healthy orange “soda”.

2. Take Care of Your Skin

I can’t stress this enough! Skincare is so important to your health. Please make sure you are cleansing at least every night, putting on a facial sunscreen EVERY morning (yes, even in the winter), and applying a moisturizer.

Between the dry air outdoors and the constant indoor heating, every winter our skin is stripped bare of its natural moisture, highlighting fine lines and wrinkles. Gold Elements’ D’Or Facial Cream  is a great facial cream that I recommend using. It will deliver a wealth of moisture to your parched winter skin while simultaneously countering the external evidences of aging.

Gold Elements uses pure 24k gold leaves in its rich facial cream, which provides several astounding benefits for the skin like:
• Quickening cell renewal for a radiant glow
• Increasing the oxygen and blood flow of the skin
• Boosting collagen and elastin production that assists in firming and tightening the skin

The D’Or Facial Cream conditions and re-balances the skin, leaving it feeling fresh, healthy and smooth. Plus, its gentle, velvety formula is perfect for people with sensitive skin.

3. Walk 10,000 Steps a Day

Walk. Walk. Walk. 10,000 steps may seem like a lot and even scare you, but what you don’t realize is you may already be accomplishing the 10,000 steps a day. On the days I am running errands or doing a ton of housework I usually hit that number and then some. Let it be a way to encourage you to get up and get things accomplished. You can track your steps by using a pedometer, Fitbit, or even your smartphone. There are many apps out there that can help keep track of your steps.

If you need a little extra motivation, put on your gym/running shoes when you get out of bed. It helps to remind me to be a little more active.

4. Eat Superfoods

Whether you like it or not, food matters. Superfoods are nutrient dense and can contribute to our overall health and well-being. Ditch those fatty chips and snack on foods like almonds, blueberries, bananas, walnuts, oats, and oranges. Substitute steak and potatoes for fish, chicken, beans, and spinach. Be more thought conscious about the foods you are putting into your body and the portion size.

5. Drink Wine

OK, so this one is my absolute favorite. Don’t confuse this with drinking the whole bottle (which I may…or may not have done before), but drinking a glass of red wine a night is actually good for your health! Seriously, read this article from

So let’s cheers to a happy New Year and a healthier new YOU!
