Don’t break the bank this Valentine’s Day! Show your kids you love them with some of these ideas. Spread the love throughout the year by doing these ideas at any time!

  • Hug them.
  • Take silly pictures of each other.
  • Make heart-shaped pancakes.
  • Put a note in their lunch. If they can’t read yet, cut out a heart and write their name on it.
  • Go to the playground together and play right along with them.
  • Give them a day-off pass from doing chores.
  • Say, “I love you.” Every day!
  • Learn how to say, “I love you” in other languages and tell them.
  • Make a fort and camp out in the living room.
  • Look through old photo albums together.
  • Have family game night once a week.
  • Go on a “date” with your child.
  • Teach your child to do something YOU love.
  • Let your child teach you how to do something THEY love.
  • Put on fun music and have a dance party.
  • Arrange fridge magnets to say “I love you”.
  • Hold your child’s hand.
  • Pitch a tent and camp in the backyard.
  • Stay up late and go star gazing in the country.

  • Go for a walk by a pond, beach, lake or river. Try skipping stones together.

  • Write I LOVE YOU in the snow with your feet.
  • Splash in the puddles after a rain storm.
  • Have a parent/child day where your child gets to run errands with you, just the two of you.
  • Go for a walk in the woods.
  • Every morning, tell them something you love about them.

  • Have your child trace your hand on paper, then trace your child’s hand inside and draw a heart in the middle.

  • Pick wild flowers together to give each other.

  • Let them spend the night in your room.

  • Make the living room into a theater and have a movie night.
  • Eat dinner picnic-style, under the dining room table.
  • Cut their sandwich in the shape of a heart.
  • Make them breakfast in bed.
  • Have a water balloon fight.
  • Wake your child up in the middle of the night to watch a meteor shower.
  • Use bath crayons to write “I love you” on the shower wall.
