When I found out I would be driving the 2014 Kia Sorento EX I jumped up from my computer chair and did a happy dance around my room. Not only would I be driving a vehicle not on the roads yet, but Kia would be sending my family down to Carlsbad, CA in the Sorento to watch the LPGA Kia Classic and visit Legoland. Talk about a dream weekend with the family!
Kia has come such a long way and to say the 2014 Sorento was impressive would be an understatement. It was love at first sight from the moment it pulled up in my driveway. My love for the Sorento was confirmed once I sat in it. From that moment on, I knew my 16 hour trip would be one of the best I have ever taken.
The comfort level in the 2014 Kia Sorento was unlike any other vehicle I had ever been in. Driving a long distance you really start to realize how uncomfortable your seats are. Typically our back and neck start to hurt, but during the long drive down to Southern California and back I really felt as if I was sitting on seats made of pillows. In fact, I never fall asleep while being a passenger and I must have taken a three hour nap at one point.
The drive is also incredibly smooth. My kids slept the majority of the trip down and the entire trip back.
I did a fun video review of the 2014 Kia Sorento just to give you an idea of how many awesome features they put into the EX. Check it out, you will be impressed!
In my video I mentioned I would cover the navigation system in my written review. I am telling you, best navigation system ever! I am not the best when it comes to following directions, in fact, my husband would probably tell you I am terrible. But with the navigation system I found my way around Southern California and back home so easily— without getting lost once!
I love how the navigation system illustrates where you need to go in case you aren’t quite sure. This ensures there is no way you could make a wrong turn! Not only does it help with directions, but it shows you the speed limit of the road you are on and your estimated arrival time and remaining trip mileage.
Kia packed the 2014 with so many safety features from a backup camera to an advanced system of airbags. One of my favorite safety features are right on the side view mirrors. When a car comes up on your blind spot a light illuminates on the mirror to let you know there is a car there. If you hit your signal while the light is on the car starts to beep at you to give you a warning.
The space inside the Sorento was spacious. I know I went over the cargo area a bit during my video review and promised I would show you some pictures. Check out how amazing the storage is under the floor of the cargo area!
The kids also had plenty of room to stretch their legs as well as the driver and front passenger.
The 2014 Kia Sorento also has some unique features I have never seen in another vehicle. For starters the speedometer is all digital. I love that they did this in the Sorento! You can change the icon in the middle to show you your trip information, switch it to what is playing on Sirius radio, or even to how many miles you have left on your tank. We loved tracking our trip because it showed us how long we were in the car, our average mph, and how many miles we had driven.
Another neat and unique feature are the sunshades for the back windows. So many times my kids have complained about the sun being in their eyes and we have had no sun protection. The 2014 Kia Sorento has sunshades built into the windows that can be easily pulled up if the passenger desires. This feature was used the whole time we were in sunny Southern California.
As you can see the 2014 Kia Sorento is extremely impressive! What’s even more impressive is that they start at only $24,100! With gas mileage of 20 city and 26 highway, the Kia Sorento is an excellent choice for families looking to get a safe, impressive, and affordable crossover.
