I’m not sure if it’s the fact I am now over 30 or because I have had kids, but my sex drive has taken a complete dip. The thought of sexy bedroom time is exhausting, especially after cleaning up dinner and trying to get the kids to bed at a decent time. I had heard there were foods (aphrodisiacs) that if eaten can help increase your sexual mood, so I have been trying them out here and there. To my surprise, a few of them have worked, or so I think. Now what may work for some, may not work for you, so I would recommend trying a few here and there to see which ones may help you and keep an open mind. Often times, the effect doesn’t kick in right away, so give it about two or three days of eating it, to see if it works.

According to an article I read on Women’s Health, Sexologist Kat Van Kirk, Ph.D. says “Consuming aphrodisiac foods may increase blood flow to the genitals, release natural bio-chemicals in the body to help you feel more aroused and relaxed, or provide nutrients that improve the health of the sex organs. As a result, they can increase your arousal, energy, body temperature, or heart rate, putting you in the mood. Some foods, she notes, can also get you amped up simply because they’re associated with sex.”

Here are 11 aphrodisiac foods to help get you in the mood when you’re too tired:

  1. Oysters
  2. Ginseng
  3. Bananas
  4. Cinnamon
  5. Avocado
  6. Chili Peppers
  7. Ginger
  8. Honey
  9. Red Wine
  10. Watermelon
  11. Chocolate
