Northstar at Tahoe Lodging
Finding a great place for your family to stay for a winter vacation can sometimes be a lot of work: a place that offers space for your family to stay, play, eat, ski etc without having to worry about driving all over the place in a location you don’t know. If you have younger children, there is even more needs! We recently stayed at Northstar at Tahoe for a family ski getaway and it truly is the place to stay in the area! Once you are there you have no need to leave until you go home. They have it all- sking, lodging, activities, shopping and eats all in their resort at Lake Tahoe.
Lake Tahoe is one of my favorite places in the world, nestled on the California/Nevada border it has gorgeous clear blue water and some really great skiing. It is the perfect place for a family getaway, and one of our favorite places to visit for winter vacations with our family!
Today, I will be highlighting their lodging options and giving you a glimpse of the cabin we stayed in, but make sure to check out our post about the rest of what Northstar has to offer!
Northstar offers a few different lodging options, and you’re sure to find something to cater to your needs. Accommodations range from staying right in the thick of it all at the Village at Northstar
to Mountain Condos, a short (free!) shuttle ride away from the Village
and even Mountain Homes (also on the shuttle route)!
On this vacation, we stayed in one of Northstar’s two bedroom mountain condos. It offered the comforts of home and the space we needed with our kids!
The two bedroom condo we stayed in had two stories- two bedrooms, a washer and dryer and one and one half bathroom were on the first floor, and upstairs was a cozy living room, dining area and kitchen.
We slept comfortably in the two bedrooms. There was a master with a queen sized bed, an armoire with a TV and a walk in closet and the room had plenty of extra room for our travel crib. We also loved the balcony off the master bedroom that offered a glorious view each morning, as well as a wonderful spot to sit on warmer evenings!
The second bedroom had two twin beds with dressers and a great sized closet-perfect for the kids to sleep in!
The great room upstairs held the living room, dining area and kitchen. We loved the cozy feel of the well decorated rooms, and the fact that our condo came equipped with a gas fireplace (although ours didn’t work), a good sized flat screen TV with a DVD player as well as cable (perfect for a post-ski family movie night!) and the balcony off the living room had a few sitting chairs and a small BBQ grill.
We enjoyed the iPod dock to play our own music for the kids’ dance parties and for fun background music as the adults visited.
The table in our dining area had seating for 6
And the kitchen was a FULL kitchen, complete with everything you would need for meals-refrigerator, oven, stove, microwave, dishwasher, sink (2 sinks, actually!) and coffee maker as well as all the utensils and kitchen gear you could want! There was even a bottle opener (hey…most places don’t have that)!
Our condo was close enough to the Northstar Village that we took the free shuttle and were there within minutes, yet it was located far enough away from the hustle and bustle enough to enjoy peace and quiet!
Our kids favorite part by far was the fact that there were hills right outside our condo door, perfect to enjoy sledding on!
The tubing up at the Northstar Village is only available to single riders, and our children were too young to go tubing by themselves, but to be able to play and go sledding down simple hills right there next to our accommodations was such a plus!
We had a blast staying at Northstar at Tahoe, and you should check it out for your family’s next winter vacation!
