Leftover Thanksgiving Bake-No more turkey sandwiches!
Thanksgiving food is great! Filling, delicious and full of a variety of flavors. But then there are the leftovers–all those leftovers! Well, here at Simply Real Moms, we are happy to say that we have a few solutions for your Thanksgiving leftovers. Now there’s something to be thankful about!
Let’s start with the basics–leftover Thanksgiving food storage. I don’t know about you, but my refrigerator never seems to fit all the leftovers. Not only that, but finding lids to match the tops of my storage containers has to be one of the biggest inconveniences ever! Another storage issue is transferring the food from the baking pans to storage containers, making more mess and more dishes–exactly what I don’t want to be dealing with on Thanksgiving.
That’s what I love Snapware food storage with Pyrex containers. Combine the ability to bake in the glassware of Pyrex with the ability to store food with the write on/wipe off, snap on/snap off lids of Snapware and you have me sold! And, of course, the stacking and nesting lids make it easy for me to find the pieces I need. By cooking and baking in the Snapware storage container (oven safe from Pyrex), clean up is as easy as 1, 2, 3. Simply put the lid on, snap down the sides and write the date on the lid (this helps SO much with leftovers!). Check out how easy storing Thanksgiving leftovers is with Snapware.

After storing your leftovers, here comes the real dilemma–what on earth are we going to eat other than leftover turkey sandwiches?
Trying to find a way to use lots of leftovers in one recipe, I decided to create a turkey bake. What I love best about this recipe is that I can create it, bake it, and store it right in my Snapware containers! It uses most of the leftovers you have lying around–
- turkey
- gravy
- mashed potatoes
- cream corn
- cheese
Since my daughter doesn’t like cheese, I made this recipe split into two square Snapware containers. That allowed me to bake one with cheese (yum!) and one without.
- 3 cups of stuffing
- 2 cups of cream corn
- 3 cups of mashed potatoes
- 2 cups of turkey
- Gravy to cover the turkey-as much or little as desired
- Cheddar cheese
- Preheat the over to 350
- Layer the bottom of your pan with stuffing.
- Cover with cut up turkey and drizzle gravy over the turkey.
- Add 2 cups of cream corn on top of the turkey and gravy.
- Top with mashed potatoes.
- Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes, until contents are hot.
- Add cheese, return to the oven until the cheese is melted.
In my house, we often take this recipe for homemade chicken noodle soup, substituting the chicken and chicken broth with turkey products. Delicious!
