Kids Summer Fun! 30+ outdoor activites for summer days
We are well into summer now and I’ll tell you what—there are days when it’s hot and I don’t want to do much of anything. I decided to come up with a list of things to do on those hot days so I don’t find myself staying indoor with the kids all day, wasting beautiful summer days!
Things to do outside on a summer day:
- Cloud watch
- Play some games with water and water balloons!! Here are more than 10 ideas to soak up water fun.
- Wash the car
- Go swimming or play with the hose
- Play in the sprinkler
- Climb a tree
- Play hide and seek
- Create a rock garden
- Go to a playground you’ve never been to
- Go for a hike with a bottle of water
- Find a shady tree and read a book
- Go on a picnic
- Create a fort in the backyard
- Make outdoor obstacle courses—make running through the sprinkler part of it!
- Go on a bug hunt
- Fly a kite
- Paint with rainbow ice cubes on the sidewalk
- Draw with sidewalk chalk, then throw water balloons at the drawings to “erase” them
- Play hopscotch
- Take a nap under a tree
- Go on a nature scavenger hunt
- Play baseball with balloons and water noodles
- Finger paint on the sidewalk!
- Pick up trash in your neighborhood/park (be sure to wear gloves!)
- Go on a rock hunt
- Play frisbee golf
- Make a ball pit with water balloons
- Take a bike ride
- Camp out in the backyard
- Play flashlight tag
- Star gaze
- Catch fireflies
