{Amazon Prime} 6 Benefits Moms Should Definitely Use.
The Benefits of Amazon Prime
Picture this. You have a disabled child. But, you also have a household to run and maintain. So you load up your child (who needs a lot of 1:1 attention, particularly in public) in the car, take them to the pet supply. Direct him to “hold on!” to the cart. Load up two 40 lb bags of dog food. Pay for them and work on getting them home. Did I mention that it’s raining?
That was a common reality for me, one that happened about every 6 weeks. Until I got Amazon Prime.
If you’re reading this, you’re probably thinking about getting Amazon Prime. Or, you may already have it but never utilize it to its fullest extent. The truth is many users only take advantage of the free shipping and maybe one or two other services. I’m thinking about it because our renewal date is next week. Having been an avid Amazon shopper pretty much since day one, yeah, Amazon Prime is not cheap. So when it comes time to pay again, I have to re-evaluate our expenses.
As a mom, there are so many great ways to use Amazon Prime to benefit your family. I am going to renew again because, for us, the free delivery on dog food is worth it. The dog food costs less than local stores, plus they deliver it. The savings on that alone pays for our membership.
Discounts on Amazon Prime
It’s important to note, that while Amazon Prime is not super cheap, it usually pays for itself after a few shipments.
But, if you belong to one of the following groups, you may qualify for discounted Amazon Prime. Also, there is a 30 day free trial period.
Unlimited Music
Do you love to listen to music while you cook or clean? Does music soothe your child? With Amazon Prime, you get access to free music. While not every artist is available, there is a lot of music. You can even enjoy pre-made playlists or create your own. Music can be listened to on your computer or you can add apps to your smart TV, streaming device, tablet, smartphone, etc. You can also purchase one of Amazon’s Echo devices to stream the music.
Prime Reading
If you’re a Prime member, you have access to over a thousand free books and magazines. There are books for every age group. You’ll even have access to some of today’s bestsellers. You can check out up to ten titles at a time. As a Prime member, you also have access to Amazon First Reads where each month you’ll receive an email that lets you choose one of six books to read before they’re available to other readers. I always grab these. It’s easy to remember because they send you an email. And most of what I’ve picked has been pretty good.
Amazon Family (formerly known as Amazon Mom)
Amazon Family is a wonderful service that allows Prime members to get up to 20% off the things they need on a regular basis. This is the program formerly known as Amazon Mom. You’ll need to choose the subscribe and save option when placing your order, but this can save your family a good amount of money. I use this for the dog food I buy, as well as my daily multi-vitamin and replacement heads for our electronic toothbrushes.
Prime Video
What family doesn’t enjoy sitting down to watch a movie? Prime Video gives you access to free movies and TV shows. New titles are added each month. You can watch Prime Video through your computer, tablet, smart TV, streaming device, or anywhere else you can install the app. They have a lot of Sesame Street and Spongebob, two favorites around here. I was even able to find two Sesame Street Christmas specials recently.
Amazon Free Time
I did a full explanation of Amazon Free Time in a separate blog post. But we just love this. Basically what it is: Unlimited monthly access to kids books and movies.
Prime Pantry
Last, but not least, Prime Pantry can make your life so much easier. It’s an extra $4.99 per month for Prime members. You get free shipping on orders of $40 or more. However, if your cart equals $40 before coupons and discounts are applied (yes, Amazon has digital coupons), you’ll still get free shipping. If you hate going to the grocery store, this can make those trips a lot shorter.
Don’t forget. It makes a great gift too!
