Looking for the solution to traveling with your child by air without lugging your car seat through the airport? Here it is: CARES Airplane Safety Harness for Kids!
I recently flew from Pennsylvania to Florida with my 22-month-old. He is a very active child and I knew he wouldn’t do well riding on my lap. I needed to buy him his own seat, but was nervous about him staying put in his seat with just a lap belt. I also was dreading dragging his car seat through the airport. Having to bring a car seat along with our carry-on bags and keeping my toddler with me was not going to happen, so I started searching for another option.
I found the solution with the CARES Airplane Safety Harness for Kids! It makes the airplane seatbelt into a harness, which was exactly what I needed!
CARES Child Aviation Restraint System is designed specifically for aviation use for children age one and older who weigh between 22 and 44 pounds. These youngsters are old enough to be in their own seats, but are too small for the seat belt alone to protect them and provide the safety they require during airplane travel. Their bodies cannot withstand the jolts that are common in routine air travel, much less emergency situations, and they flail forward or slide beneath the seat belt if they are not held securely in place.
I love that CARES is (the only!) harness certified by the Federal Aviation Administration. Also, use is very straight forward! You simply slide the red part of the buckle over the seat back. I suggest making it too tight and loosening it as much as you need to as you lower it. I found it harder to tighten when it was already on. When I tightened it first, it was a breeze! Once fastened, I left my son secured in the harness the entire trip (other than potty trips). It kept my active toddler secure and safe for the flight. I loved it!
Another great feature of the CARES system is the pouch it fits in. It’s light and easy to stuff into your carry-on bag. It also adjusts to any size airplane seat! This is a flying accessory you don’t want to pass up. Simply check your car seat at the gate and use the CARES Airplane Safety Harness for Kids!
