Happy Hour: Real Fruit Watermelon Margaritas

Welcome to Margarita Numero Dos in my Cinco De Mayo Marg Madness.

This is hands down my ABSOLUTE favorite summer drink I’m about to share with you. I make it for most summer gatherings, and it is liked across the board by everyone, even non-tequila drinkers!

Say hello to the Watermelon Margarita!

If you tend to steer clear of tequila, just promise me you’ll TRY this. I guarantee you’ll like it (well, unless you don’t like watermelon) and so will your guests. This recipe makes enough for about 10-15 glasses.

Ingredients

1 small watermelon (the mini, or personal size)
3/4 to a whole 750ml bottle of Silver Tequila (gold is fine too, but I think silver tastes better in it)
2 Cup Sugar
2 Cup Water
8 wide strips of orange zest (fancy term for orange peel without the white)
1 cup Lime Juice

Mix It Up

Place Sugar and Water in a saucepan with Orange Zest, and bring to a boil until the sugar dissolves. Take off heat, remove zest and let cool.

Cut your watermelon into small chunks and puree in the blender (seeds are ok) until smooth

Pour your blended watermelon juice into a large pitcher through a mesh colander to clear out the seeds and solids. You should have about 4 cups.

Add the remaining ingredients and the cooled orange syrup and stir to combine.

Pour over ice OR blend with ice for a frozen marg and enjoy.

Want to know the best part of this margarita?! This is easy to make Preggo or Nursing Friendly! Just omit the tequila and it’s an instant Mom-erita! Add the tequila only to the glasses of those who would like it!

Now, you CAN save yourself the work and buy watermelon juice if you’d like (it’s available in the refrigerated juice section in the summer) BUT it’s just not as good. Trust. I’ve tried. Fresh Watermelon is what makes this amazing!

I don’t drink and I hate tequila but I gotta admit that this sounds and looks yummy. I adore watermelon so that’s probably why lol. Oh…and I believe you meant ‘omit’ the tequila instead of ‘emit’ for the preggers and nursing. lol
