Last week, GMC invited me to sunny Orlando, Florida to do something I haven’t done before. Not only did I get to check out the all-new 2017 GMC Acadia, but I got to drive it to the HGTV Dream Home and tour the house. Add that to something I can check off the bucket list.
I didn’t know what to expect from the Acadia. The only GMC vehicles I have driven in the past were a Yukon and Canyon, so this was my first time experiencing a GMC in the CUV segment.
We started the morning with a hearty breakfast and product presentation. During the presentation I quickly learned how impressed I was with the 2017 Acadia, which made me eager to get behind the wheel.
The 2017 Acadia comes in several trim levels: SL(FWD/AWD), SLE(FWD/AWD), SLT(FWD/AWD), All Terrain (AWD), and Denali (FWD/AWD).
All trim levels include outstanding safety features. Some of these features include: Lane Keep Assist, Front Park Assist, Pedestrian Detection, Front Automatic Braking, and Safety Alert Seat. There is even a Rear Seat Reminder on some of the trim levels that actually reminds you there may be something in your back seat. Unfortunately, people forgetting and leaving things in their back seats happens, and GMC is here to be your “eyes” and your ears. If you happen to open one of the back seat door, a signal is sent to the car letting them know, then when you you put your car in park and turn the engine off, a sound will indicate to let you know.
The 2017 Acadia comes with both 5 and 7 seat passenger capabilities. Parents will be happy to know that the all-new Acadia features a Smart Slide Seating. With one hand you can easily fold and slide the 2nd row seats, making getting into the 3rd row a breeze. You can even keep car seats installed in the 2nd row while using this feature. A huge win in my book.
After learning all these amazing facts about the Acadia it was time to hit the road. One word… WHOA! The first vehicle I drove was the Acadia Denali and let me just say, I was completely impressed. The interior is beautifully designed and incredibly spacious. Not only was there ample leg room in the front, but even more leg room in the 2nd row. There are also a ton of USB ports, making it easy for parents and children to charge their electronic devices.
Our drive took us to the HGTV Dream Home where we got a special tour from the interior designer, Brian Patrick Flynn.
The home is stunning to say the least. I have been following the HGTV Dream Homes for a couple years now, and yes, even enter the sweepstakes myself. So it was an unreal feeling being at the home and being able to tour it and eat lunch on the back property.
Huge thank you to GMC and HGTV for making this trip of a lifetime, one that I will always remember.
The 2017 GMC Acadia starts at $29,995. If you have any questions about the all-new Acadia or HGTV Dream Home, please let us know.
